Scotby Church Pathfinders/CYFA

We have a group of about 22 young people aged between 12 and 22 years of age who meet together on a regular basis to learn more about God, Jesus and the Bible. We are together on a Sunday morning, initially in church with the other members of the congregation, then we continue our teaching session in our local village hall, this gives us more space for games and activities, as well as Bible teaching. Our aim is to share with these young people the importance of placing Jesus at the centre of our lives, and also the importance of daily prayer and daily Bible reading, in regard to our own Christian growth.

Pathfinders.
We meet at Pathfinders most Sundays and every second Thursday. I really enjoy it, because on
Sunday we have fun and meet our friends while learning more and getting closer to God. Katherine P.

On Sunday we go to church for a little while then we go to the Village Hall. We play games as well as read and discuss parts of the Bible.

What Pathfinders means to me. Pathfinders helps me a lot. It is enjoyable and it helps me get through my troubles and it also reassures me in what I do.

Pathfinders helps you get to learn about God. Harry W.

Pathfinders and Camp helps me grow spiritually and be strong in my faith.

The group also meets for a games and social evening, usually on a Thursday in the village Parish Centre. About 15 young people attend, to play football on the green outside Centre, then to play indoor games such as darts, table football, pool, table tennis and play station games. Soft drinks, crisps and biscuits are available during the course of the evening.
On Thursday we meet at Seven o clock at Scotby Parish Centre. We have table tennis, table football, pool, and on sunny summer nights we play ball games outside on the
village green. I think it is a great way to meet new friends

Thursday is great because we meet in the evenings and can relax and get to know our friends more by playing table tennis tournaments and pool.

Two members of our youth group meet for music group rehearsals every Friday evening in church as they are part of the worship group. They play on the second and third Sundays of each month. One member states "I love playing because I really enjoy helping to be part of the worship at church".
Camp

A number of our group attend the annual Pathfinder camp held at Windermere during the first 10 days in August. This is a time of teaching, fellowship and fun under canvas and those who attend find that the camp is very important for their spiritual growth and development.
Camp is absolutely amazing it is one of the most awesome times I have ever had! During the day we did activities like rock climbing and windsurfing It was ace except leaning back out to abseil down! We met in the evenings and we spent time with our tent groups and learnt more about God together. The meetings were great and the live music was ace. I got a lot closer to God and it has helped me to start actively living my faith.
We go for ten days in August. We get to do activities, such as rock climbing, gorge scrambling, and canoeing. It is a great way to socialize and meet new people. I reckon it is really, really fun.
Pathfinder camp is a good experience and it is good to spend ten days with other Christians the same age as you.
Camp was excellent and made me feel more close to God. You get to meet different friends from different places in England and that was good.
